Fifty years ago this finely-grooved boomerang was traded to a miner at The Granites gold mine near Tenant’s Creek, Northern Territory, Australia. Hooked boomerangs were commonly used as fighting weapons, as the hook and notch allowed them to catch and swing around the defensive shield of an enemy.
