According to Skip Cole, this fine Ashanti figure was carved by Kwaku Bempah (active early 20th century, d. 1936), father of Osei Bonsu.

Condition report: A chip to the base of the stool, stable narrow cracks down the central torso, a larger old crack on the right side of the head, and an old break on the right wrist.
